PM Khan to launch ‘Hunermand Jawan’ program today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will today launch Pakistan’s largest skills development programme, “Hunermand Jawan”, aimed at empowering young people through quality vocational training.

The duration of the program is four years, costs around Rs 30 billion and will facilitate young people through easy loans, professional capacity building, start-ups and internships.

In the initial phase, approximately 170,000 young people will receive skills-based vocational training, of which 50,000 will be trained in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cloud computing and other advanced fields of technology. technology.

Similarly, 50,000 young people will be trained at the Office of Technical Education and Vocational Training in traditional fields including automobile mechanics, plumbing, etc., while 20,000 young people will be placed on apprenticeships.

75 smart classrooms will be set up to ensure easy access to skills and vocational training in addition to the provision of this training in 70 Madaris.

Five centers of excellence will also be created under the “Hunermand Nu Jawan” program in collaboration with friendly countries.

The PTI government launched the Kamyab Jawan program and the Ehsas interest-free loan for young people last year.
