‘Punjab Rozgar Scheme worth over Rs 30 billion launched’ – Pakistan

LAHORE: Provincial Minister of Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal says Punjab Rozgaar scheme worth over Rs 30 billion has been launched to create jobs and over 1.6 million people will get a job under this program.

He was chairing a meeting to review the performance of small industries here on Saturday at the civil secretariat. The provincial minister said that the Punjab Rozgar Scheme will provide resources to qualified young people to start their own businesses.

PSIC Director General Jameel Ahmed Jameel gave a detailed briefing on the progress and future priorities of the Punjab Rozgaar Scheme.

Provincial Industries and Commerce Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal told the meeting that the provision of easy loans under the Punjab Rozgar Scheme will start next week. Easy loans ranging from Rs 100,000 to Rs 10 million were granted to candidates under the program.

The provincial minister has ordered to ensure that facilities are not available in small industrial areas; the provincial minister said that the PSIC should prepare a full presentation on the objectives achieved in the last two and a half years and the employment opportunities created.

He also ordered that PSIC and TEVTA work together for the improvement of five to six industrial clusters, the development of a business incubation center and the provision of loans to qualified and passed out trainees of TEVTA through the Punjab Rozgaar Scheme.

He also ordered that the PSIC prepare a self-sufficient model. Industry and Commerce Secretary Wasif Khurshid, CEO of Punjab Board of Investment, TEVTA officials as well as relevant officials attended the meeting.
